New Publications on Celebrity Humanitarianism
and Environmentalism
Since we published the books presented in this website we were invited to take part in two further writing projects that looked respectively at the politics of celebrity humanitarianism and a review of celebrity environmentalism. In both papers we examined how celebrity engagements appeared in different 'tropes'. Tropes refer to the particular sets of ways that a particular story, or group of people are represented, they are ways of reading the performances which are essential celebrity engagements. In each paper we identify the different tropes that characterise humanitarianism (there are six of these) and environmental engagements (we identified nine).
